Paddle pendants commonly used for jewelry and regalia adornment in the Native Indigenous Tribes and First Nations people of the USA and Canada are miniatures of ancient paddle designs such as Ben Charles, Sr’s working paddle that he carved in 1993 (shown at right). This ancient design has been used through the ages up to current times by Native Tribal canoe-travelers of the Pacific Northwest and West Coast of the USA and Canada. It is symbolic of the Coastal Culture on Native Indigenous people. The design has been used in regalia decoration, jewelry and other artistic expressions since ancient times. Since these designs have been in use for thousands of years it is NOT possible for a living person to own the copyright to the design.

Anyone claiming to own copyright of these paddle designs has NO legal claim – especially a non-Native person. They are out of line and will have a close legal incounter with the law, by-way-of Tribal Attorneys.
